Morning Routines for a More Productive Morning

5 Things to Add to Your Morning Routine for a More Productive Day

Your days as a small business owner are hectic – you’re dealing with employees, customers, and suppliers. You put out fires and encourage your small business to grow. How do you stay productive all day without getting off track?

Your morning routine sets the tone for the day – it will be easier to get through your to-do list if you start the day calmly, instead of disorganized and chaotic. It will also increase your productivity because you’ll start the day focused.

Different routines work for different people, so don’t be afraid to experiment to find the perfect morning routine. Consider adding these five things to your morning routine to get you started:

1.     Wake Up at the Same Time Every Morning

It’s tempting to sleep in on the weekends, but that can disrupt your sleep cycle. Before you know it, you’re staying up too late on Sunday night and can’t get yourself out of bed on Monday.

Instead, try to wake up at the same time every day. This way, you’ll wake up every dayrefreshed and ready to go.

2.     Drink a Glass of Water

Drinking a glass of water every morning rehydrates your body and wakes you up. Don’t worry, you can still have your morning cup of coffee!

3.     Keep Your Phone Off

If you look at your phone or turn on your laptop in the morning, you’ll easily be distracted. If you received an unpleasant email during the night, you’ll be in a bad mood before you even get started for the day.

Keep your phone (or laptop) off while you’re getting ready. When you’re at the office or ready to start working for the day, turn your phone on and start reading through your emails.

4.     Exercise

Exercise is critical for staying healthy. Maybe you always plan to go to the gym around lunch time, but things always come up that prevent you from going.

Make sure you’re getting plenty of exercise by doing it before you start working for day. You don’t have to go to the gym or for a long run; stretching or doing some yoga can help you wake up and get energized for the day ahead.

Exercising also increases your energy, so working out in the morning will help to fuel you for the entire day.

5.     Make a To-Do List

As a small business owner, you always have a huge to-do list. It can be overwhelming. Start each morning by reviewing your to-do list and narrowing it down to just the most important tasks for the day.
